Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been officially diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (with no other known cause for it)
  • You are able to take the study medication yourself, or you have a caregiver who can help you take it throughout the study
  • You are willing to keep your diet, exercise routine, and current medications the same as when you started the trial (necessary changes are allowed)
  • If you take any Parkinson's medications or supplements, you have been on the same dose for at least 30 days before your first screening visit
  • If you take medication for depression or anxiety, you have been on the same dose for at least 90 days before your screening visit

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes
  • Your HbA1c blood sugar level is 6.5% or higher (a measure of long-term blood sugar — confirm with trial site)
  • You have a history of episodes of dangerously low blood sugar with symptoms
  • Your score on a standard memory and thinking test (called the MMSE) is 24 or below at your screening visit
  • You tested positive for COVID-19 at your screening visit or within the 30 days before it
  • A medication that could affect your thinking or memory had its dose changed or increased in the 8 weeks before screening or during the study
  • You have ongoing nasal problems such as chronic nasal inflammation, frequent nosebleeds, uncontrolled hay fever, or a dust mite allergy that could stop the study medication from being absorbed properly
  • You have poorly controlled breathing conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • You have a history of any significant neurological or mental health condition other than Parkinson's disease
  • You have epilepsy, have had a seizure as an adult within the past year, have had an unexplained loss of consciousness recently, or have had a serious head injury that caused loss of consciousness
  • You have had a stroke (certain types) that left you with lasting neurological effects (confirm with trial site)
  • You have heart disease that is unstable or not well controlled and could put you at additional risk
  • You currently use insulin or other blood sugar-lowering medications (except if only used during pregnancy-related diabetes), or you take glutathione (GSH) supplements or any supplement known to raise glutathione levels in the body
