Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (the standard kind, with no other known cause) by a specialist, with slowness of movement plus at least one of: tremor at rest or muscle stiffness.
- Your Parkinson's symptoms are at a moderate level — not very mild and not very severe (stage 2 to 3 on a standard scale).
- You scored 26 or higher on a standard memory and thinking test called the MoCA.
- You are between 46 and 89 years old.
- You can speak, read, and understand English.
- You are able to give written consent to take part.
- You have been on a steady, unchanged dose of your Parkinson's medications for at least one month before the study starts, and are willing to keep that dose the same throughout the study.
- You have already had a brain CT or MRI scan to rule out other causes of your symptoms.
Who may not be able to join:
- Your Parkinson's-like symptoms are caused by something else, such as medications, another brain disease, a stroke-related condition, or conditions like Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, or Lewy Body dementia.
- You have a history of a psychiatric illness that could create a safety concern.
- You have been diagnosed with dementia or another neurological condition.
- You are currently taking sedative (calming/sleep) medications that would be unsafe in this context.
- Your medications have changed in the last month.
- You have had recent issues with drug or alcohol misuse.
- Your lab test results show something that could be a safety risk (confirm with trial site).
- You are currently in, or have taken part in, another clinical trial within the last 3 months.
- You are pregnant.
- You do not have health insurance or healthcare coverage.
- You have had epilepsy, a stroke, or a seizure in the past 24 months.
- You have a diagnosis of migraines.
- You have certain implanted medical devices in your body (confirm with trial site).
- You have any reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan.
- Your life expectancy is less than 2 years.
