Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with generalised Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) — a condition involving fear or anxiety in a wide range of social situations (not just performance situations like public speaking)
• You consider social anxiety to be your main problem right now
• You are 18 years old or older (there is no upper age limit)
• You are either not taking any psychiatric medications, or you have been on a stable dose for at least two months with no improvement, and you are willing to keep the same dose throughout the trial
• You agree not to start any other new treatments while the trial is running
• You are a Chinese resident living in Hong Kong
• You can read and write traditional Chinese and speak Cantonese confidently
• You have internet access at home

Who may not be able to join:

• You currently have, or have previously had, psychosis, bipolar disorder, or borderline personality disorder
• You are currently having thoughts of suicide or self-harm
• You have a moderate or severe problem with alcohol or drug use (confirm with trial site)
• You have previously received Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for social anxiety — including online CBT — involving at least 5 sessions that included exposure exercises (gradually facing feared situations)
• You have another emotional or mental health problem that is more urgent and would need to be treated as a priority
