- You are having an ablation procedure at Stanford for atrial fibrillation (AF) that either stops on its own within 7 days, or requires a medical procedure to stop it.
- You have already tried at least one medication to control your heart rhythm that either did not work or caused problems you could not tolerate.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently experiencing active heart problems such as a blocked artery in the heart or severe heart failure.
- A scan of your heart (using a camera passed down the throat) has found a blood clot in your heart.
- You are pregnant.
- You are unable or unwilling to give your formal agreement to take part in the study.
- You have a specific type of heart valve disease caused by rheumatic fever.
- You have a history of blood clotting disorders or have a filter placed in a large vein in your body.
