Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been assessed as suitable candidates for a catheter ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation (AF), including those with a history of symptomatic persistent AF, or those having a repeat procedure for persistent or paroxysmal AF under certain conditions (confirm with trial site)
- People aged 18 or older, of any gender
- People who are covered by a social security scheme (confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form before any trial-related assessments begin
- Women who could become pregnant must be using effective contraception
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- People who have a blood clot in the left chamber of the heart, or another physical condition that would prevent the procedure from being performed
- People for whom blood-thinning medications (such as heparin, warfarin, or similar drugs) are not medically safe to use
- People who cannot receive the contrast dye product XENETIX® — for example, due to an allergy to its ingredients or a history of serious reactions to it, or due to a thyroid condition called thyrotoxicosis
- People with a known sensitivity or allergy to ethanol (alcohol)
- People currently experiencing unstable chest pain or an ongoing lack of blood supply to the heart
- People who have had a heart attack within the 3 months before joining the trial
- People with a heart condition present from birth that increases the risks associated with the ablation procedure
- People with a serious disorder affecting bleeding, blood clotting, or clot formation
- Women who are pregnant, in labour, or currently breastfeeding
- People who are unable or unwilling to sign a written consent form
- People who are in custody or detained under a court or administrative order
- People currently receiving psychiatric care
- People who are living in a care or social facility for reasons unrelated to this research
- People who are under a legal protection arrangement such as guardianship
