Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Children and young people living in Uganda, between 4 and 26 years old at the start of the study
  • People who have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes based on clinical assessment, for at least 12 months before the study begins
  • People who are currently using insulin to manage their diabetes
  • People who have access to a cell phone
  • For participants under 18 years old, at least one parent or guardian must be present at the clinic and able to give consent on their behalf; those aged 18 to 26 may give consent for themselves

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are unwilling or unable to attend the pediatric diabetes clinic on a monthly basis
  • People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or likely to become pregnant within the next year
  • People with serious medical conditions that, in the opinion of the study investigator, could interfere with taking part in the study
  • People who already use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) device
  • People who are unable to wear the study sensor for at least 7 days during the baseline period, or are unable to return it
  • People who the study team considers unlikely or unable to follow the study procedures
