Who might be able to join this trial:
Colorectal Cancer Group:
- People aged 18 to 49 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of colorectal cancer called colorectal adenocarcinoma, confirmed by a lab test
- People who are scheduled for, or have already had, surgery, a biopsy, or a colonoscopy (including routine check-up colonoscopies) related to their colorectal cancer — this applies only to those providing a tissue sample

Healthy Control Group:
- People aged 18 to 49 years old who are scheduled for a routine colonoscopy at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK)
- People who have had surgery to treat a physical injury to the colon at Shaare Zedek Medical Center
Who may not be able to join:
Colorectal Cancer Group:
- People who have taken antibiotics within 6 months before providing a stool sample — this applies only to those providing a stool sample
- People who have a known inherited gene that increases cancer risk
- People with a history of inflammatory bowel disease (a long-term condition causing inflammation in the digestive tract)
Healthy Control Group:
- People who have taken antibiotics within 6 months before providing a stool sample — this applies only to those providing a stool sample
- People who have been diagnosed with, or treated for, cancer within the last 5 years (exceptions include certain less serious conditions such as some skin cancers or early-stage non-invasive cancers — confirm with trial site)
- People whose colonoscopy is being done because of inflammatory bowel disease, anaemia, or a known genetic predisposition to cancer — this applies only to those providing a tissue sample
