Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who were admitted to Amiens University Hospital for heart surgery that involved being connected to a heart-lung bypass machine (known as "on-pump" cardiac surgery)
- People whose on-pump heart surgery took place within the last 96 hours (4 days)
- People who have the physical and mental ability to use a smartwatch to record a basic heart rhythm reading
- People who have been moved to the cardiac surgery ward at Amiens University Hospital after their surgery
- People who are covered by a French social security plan
- People who have signed the consent form agreeing to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm condition)
- People who need continuous heart rhythm monitoring by a telemetry system in cardiac intensive care due to certain heart rhythm problems, including a slow or blocked signal between the heart's upper and lower chambers, or a very fast heart rate (above 140 beats per minute)
- People who are currently dependent on an external pacemaker connected to wires attached directly to the heart during surgery
- People who are already taking part in another interventional clinical trial that could affect the chances of developing a specific post-surgery heart rhythm problem
- People who are pregnant
