  • People who are currently in hospital with a newly diagnosed diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have already received a flu vaccine during the current flu season.
  • People who have a strong medical reason to receive a flu vaccine unrelated to diabetes.
  • People with a severe allergy to eggs or who have had an allergic reaction to a flu vaccine in the past.
  • People who are currently suspected of having a fever or an active infection.
  • People with a known sensitivity or allergy to any ingredient in the Vaxigrip Tetra vaccine, including egg proteins (ovalbumin or chicken proteins), neomycin, formaldehyde, or octoxinol.
  • People whose immune system is weakened, either due to a medical condition or as a result of medication, in a way that may reduce how well their body responds to vaccines.
  • People whose parent or legal guardian is unable to provide informed consent.
  • People under 7 years of age or aged 18 years or older.
  • People who have previously taken part in the INVITED trial.
