Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with major depression (either your first time or a return of depression) and are not currently taking any medication for it, with no signs of psychosis (such as hallucinations or delusions)
- Your depression is rated as moderately severe or above on a standard depression scoring scale (scored 20 or higher on the 24-item Hamilton Depression Scale)
- You are between 18 and 45 years old (any gender)
- You are right-handed
- You are of Han Chinese ethnicity
- You are willing to take part in the study and have signed a consent form agreeing to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with another mental health condition alongside depression, such as schizophrenia, intellectual disability, or substance dependence
- You have metal objects inside your body (such as a pacemaker or metal implants) or any other reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan
- You have a serious or unstable physical health condition
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are a woman of childbearing age whose pregnancy test came back positive during the screening period
- The trial team decides, for any other reason, that joining the trial would not be appropriate for you (confirm with trial site)
