Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged between 18 and 65 years old
• People who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe Major Depressive Disorder (either a single episode or recurring episodes), confirmed by a specific depression rating scale score of 17 or higher
• People whose depression did not improve after trying at least 2 different antidepressant medications from at least 2 different medication categories
• People who have also tried at least 2 additional evidence-based treatments used alongside antidepressants (note: benzodiazepines, a type of anti-anxiety medication, do not count toward this requirement)
• People who have completed a course of talk therapy (psychotherapy) that is recognised as effective for depression, at an appropriate length and frequency
• People who are willing and able to follow an intensive, accelerated treatment schedule

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are not able to give informed consent due to mental or legal incapacity
• People who have an active infection or significantly poor skin condition on the scalp where the treatment device would be placed
• People who have an increased risk of seizures due to family history, a previous stroke, or current use of medications known to raise seizure risk
• People who have been diagnosed with psychotic symptoms or conditions — such as schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder — during their current depressive episode
• People who have a neurological condition such as epilepsy, a history of stroke or cerebrovascular disease, dementia, increased pressure in the brain, a history of repeated or serious head injury, or a brain tumour
• People who have a magnetic-sensitive medical device implanted in their body — for example, a cochlear implant, a pacemaker, an implanted heart defibrillator, a vagus nerve stimulator, or certain metal clips, coils, staples, or stents (note: standard dental fillings are considered safe and do not disqualify someone)
