Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 18 or older
• People diagnosed with colorectal cancer (bowel cancer) that has spread or cannot be surgically removed, and who will be treated with a chemotherapy drug called irinotecan, with or without an additional targeted therapy

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose cancer has a specific genetic feature called microsatellite instability (MSI), or a related abnormality in certain proteins involved in DNA repair
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People who have had part of their small bowel redirected through the abdomen wall (an ileostomy)
• People of Asian ethnicity
• People who have received another systemic (whole-body) cancer treatment less than one month before starting irinotecan-based treatment
• People who have taken antibiotic treatment less than three months before starting irinotecan-based treatment
• People who have had radiotherapy to the abdomen less than two weeks before starting irinotecan-based treatment
• People who are physically or mentally unable to participate in the trial
• People whose irinotecan starting dose has been reduced by more than 25%, unless that reduction is due to a specific gene variation called UGT1A1 mutation
