Adults aged 18 years or older
People who are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) first-time total knee or hip replacement surgery at an approved UPMC hospital
People who have moderately high levels of anxiety or depression symptoms, shown by a score of 60 or above on a standard mental health questionnaire called PROMIS (confirm with trial site for exact scoring details)

Who may not be able to join:

People having emergency surgery, or a second or repeat joint replacement surgery
People currently experiencing delirium, significant memory or thinking difficulties, or severe intellectual disability
People who do not have access to a smartphone or tablet

People with very severe depression symptoms, including any thoughts of suicide, shown by a PROMIS Depression score above 70
People with very severe anxiety or depression scores above 70 on the PROMIS questionnaire (these individuals will be directed to appropriate medical care by the trial team)
