Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease by a movement disorder specialist, with slowness of movement plus at least one of: tremor at rest, muscle stiffness, or balance problems not caused by vision, ear, or coordination issues
- Your Parkinson's symptoms improve when you take levodopa (based on your own experience)
- Your Parkinson's disease is in an early to middle stage (Hoehn & Yahr stages I–III — confirm with trial site if unsure which stage applies to you)
- You are between 55 and 85 years old
- You are able to understand and follow instructions to take part in tests and exercise classes
- You do not have any health conditions or take any medications that would make exercise unsafe for you
- You are willing and able to attend exercise sessions about 3 times per week for 4 weeks, and are able to avoid changing your medications or other exercise routines during that time
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a significant bone, joint, muscle, or other neurological condition (besides Parkinson's), brain structural disease, epilepsy, or serious illness that noticeably affects your walking or balance — such as a vestibular disorder, stroke, head injury, or heart disease
- You have a medical condition that means you should not exercise
- You have significant memory or thinking difficulties, such as a score of 19 or below on a standard cognitive test (MoCA), a prior diagnosis of dementia, or difficulty following directions
- You fall more than 3 times per week (based on your or your caregiver's recollection)
- You drink alcohol heavily or use recreational drugs excessively
- Your medications have been changed recently
- You are unable to stand and walk without using a walking aid or assistive device
