Who may be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
  • People whose distance vision, when corrected with glasses or soft contact lenses, meets a minimum level of 0.7 on the decimal scale.
  • People whose close-up vision, when corrected with glasses or soft contact lenses, meets a minimum level of 20/30 on the Snellen scale.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have a history of a condition called optic neuritis, or who had an episode of it less than 6 months before the study, as this could interfere with certain eye measurements taken during the trial.
  • People who have other diseases affecting the retina or optic nerve, or who have advanced cataracts rated above a certain level on a standard classification system.
  • People who have other eye conditions that could affect their central vision.
  • People with a high level of refractive error (a strong glasses or contact lens prescription of more than plus or minus 6 diopters).
  • People who have other conditions that affect the nervous system in a similar way to MS, such as neuromyelitis optica or acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
