Who might be able to join this trial:
- People of any gender aged 18 or older
- For the VAPOR 1 part of the trial: people who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (confirmed by tissue testing), people who have recently developed diabetes or have chronic pancreatitis, or people with general digestive symptoms but a normal-looking pancreas on scans
- For the VAPOR Bioresource part of the trial: people who are scheduled to have pancreatic surgery for either confirmed pancreatic cancer, or non-cancerous pancreatic conditions such as certain types of cysts or chronic pancreatitis
- People scheduled for surgery where pancreatic cancer is suspected but not yet confirmed by tissue testing may also be considered, provided cancer is confirmed in the removed tissue after surgery (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have already received chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgery for their pancreatic cancer
- People who have had another cancer diagnosed within the past five years
- People who have previously had surgery on the upper part of the digestive system
- People who are unable to provide a breath sample
- People who are pregnant
- People who are unable to give written informed consent
- For the VAPOR 1 part: people who currently have an active infection, or who have taken immunosuppressive medications or antibiotics in the past eight weeks
- For the VAPOR Bioresource part: people who have taken immunosuppressive medications in the past eight weeks
