Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children and teenagers between 8 and 18 years old
- Those who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes within the last 14 weeks
- Those who are willing and able to have a non-invasive test to measure artery stiffness (lasting about 1 hour) and wear a blood pressure monitoring device for 24 hours
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have been diagnosed with other heart, metabolic, or hormone-related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, inherited cholesterol disorders, or lupus
- Children who have been diagnosed with certain genetic conditions, such as Down Syndrome or Prader-Willi Syndrome
- Children who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder
- Transgender children who are currently taking hormone blockers or external sex hormones
- Children currently taking medications known to affect metabolism, such as steroids (glucocorticoids) or antipsychotic medicines
