Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) according to standard psychiatric guidelines (DSM-5)
- People whose depression has not improved after trying at least two different antidepressant medications at the right dose and for long enough during their current episode
- People who have been on a stable psychiatric medication plan for at least one month
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have certain physical health conditions that could make magnetic brain stimulation unsafe, such as epilepsy, brain injuries or diseases, previous brain surgery, metal implants, or heart devices
- People who have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder or alcohol use disorder in the past 6 months
- People who are currently experiencing acute intoxication from alcohol or other substances, or are going through withdrawal
- People who have significant physical or neurological health conditions
- People who have a personal history of seizures, or who have a close family member (parent, sibling, or child) with a history of seizures
- People who have significant eye conditions that could interfere with a specific eye test (called an ERG) used in this trial
- Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
