Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 80 years old
- You have chronic pain that has lasted more than 12 months, is moderate to severe, and has been identified by a specialist as nerve-related (neuropathic) pain
- Your pain affects one arm or hand only (upper limb), and not both sides
- Your pain comes from a nerve problem in the body (not the brain or spinal cord), which may include conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (type I or II), or pain following an injury or surgery
- Your pain has not improved despite trying multiple standard treatments, including certain antidepressants, nerve pain medications, skin patches or creams, talking therapies, and combinations of these
- You have been assessed and approved by a specialist in chronic and nerve pain
- You have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
- You are covered by the French social insurance system
Who may not be able to join:
- Your nerve pain is caused by a torn brachial plexus (a specific type of nerve injury in the shoulder/neck area)
- Your nerve pain is caused by shingles (post-zoster pain)
- You experience phantom limb pain (pain felt in a limb that has been amputated)
- You are unable to fill in written questionnaires on your own
- You have a long-term condition that requires you to have regular MRI scans
- You have a health condition that makes surgery, general anaesthetic, or a specific procedure near the shoulder unsafe for you
- You have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or a known heart condition that puts you at high risk (confirm with trial site)
- You have unstable mental health or psychiatric conditions
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, under legal guardianship, or currently detained (confirm with trial site)
