Who might be able to join this trial:

For all participants:

  • People who have given their written consent to take part in the study
  • People who are willing to follow the study procedures

For healthy volunteers (people without a diagnosed condition):

  • People with no history of neurological (brain/nerve), orthopedic (bone/joint), or rheumatologic (joints, muscles, immune system) conditions

For people with Parkinson's disease:

  • People who have had a Percept™ PC neurostimulator (a type of brain stimulation device) implanted
  • People who are able to have their brain stimulation device temporarily switched off during the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with significant memory or thinking difficulties, as measured by a standard cognitive test (a score below 20 on the MoCA assessment)
  • People with a physical or neurological condition that would interfere with the study procedures
  • People whose personal or social circumstances would make it difficult to attend the study sessions

Primary endpoints

Cortical activity underlying kinematic gait patterns will be recorded by electroencephalograph of the healthy and Parkinson patients; Electromyography (Delsys®) of the healthy and Parkinson patients; Detect onset of task-related movements detected by an accelerometer that will be placed on the hand and foot of the healthy and the parkinson patients
