Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been referred to a psychiatric clinic for treatment where depression is their main diagnosis.
• People who have been diagnosed with chronic or hard-to-treat depression, meaning their depression has lasted at least two years, or has not improved after trying at least two different types of antidepressant medications at appropriate doses for at least four weeks, or has been measured as moderately treatment-resistant using a specialist rating scale.
• People whose depression is rated as at least moderate to severe based on a standard depression rating scale called the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD-6), with a score of 9 or higher.

Who may not be able to join:

• People with alcohol or drug misuse problems.
• People with bipolar disorder or a psychotic disorder.
• People who are considered to be at immediate risk of suicide at the time of joining.
• People with a significant intellectual disability (an estimated IQ below 70).
• People who do not speak Danish.
• People who are known to be pregnant at the time of joining.
• People whose main psychiatric problem is something other than depression — for example, if a condition such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is considered the primary issue, the trial site would likely direct that person to a different treatment program instead.
