Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed (confirmed by biopsy) with advanced or spread (metastatic) solid tumours of specific cancer types: breast cancer (all subtypes), non-small cell lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancers including pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, melanoma, or soft tissue sarcoma.
- People whose cancer has spread to at least one area outside the brain that measures at least 5 cm, and for whom doctors are already planning radiation treatment aimed at managing symptoms (palliative radiotherapy) to that area.
- People aged 18 or older.
- People who are generally well enough to carry out normal daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site regarding the specific fitness scale used).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who have previously had radiation treatment to the same cancer site(s) being considered for treatment in this trial.
- People with certain serious medical conditions — such as an uncontrolled infection (including HIV), uncontrolled diabetes, or connective tissue diseases like lupus or systemic sclerosis — that the treating doctor considers would make participation too risky.
- People who currently have a second, active cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
- People currently taking steroid tablets or injections at doses higher than what the body would naturally produce (low "replacement" doses for conditions like adrenal insufficiency may be permitted, but higher doses would need to be stopped before and during the study period).
- People receiving other cancer treatments at the same time as radiation, unless those treatments are paused at least 3 days before radiation begins and for at least 3 days after it ends.
- People who are unwilling or unable to take part in all required study visits and procedures.
- People who are unable to understand the study's purpose and risks, or who are unable to provide signed written consent to participate.
