Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who have been newly diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) while in the intensive care unit (ICU), confirmed by a heart tracing test or a recorded episode lasting at least 30 seconds
- People who are currently in the ICU and are either on a breathing machine through a tube in their throat, or receiving medications to support their blood pressure or heart function (or both)
- People who are able to provide written agreement to participate in the trial
- People who are enrolled in a French social security scheme, or are a dependent of someone who is
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a previous history of atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm) that has been recorded in their medical records
- People who were admitted to the ICU following heart or chest surgery
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 12 months
- People who are under legal guardianship or judicial protection
- People who do not have social security coverage
- People who are currently within a restricted period from participating in another clinical trial
