Who might be able to join this trial:

Control Group (general participants):

• People aged 50 years or older.
• People who are able to walk 4 meters on their own without using a walking aid such as a cane or walker.
• People who expect to be available and able to participate for 12 months.
• People who are able to give informed consent and follow the study's required steps and procedures.
• People who are willing to wear a small sensor device to track their movement and mobility.
• People who are able to read and write in their first language in the country where the trial is taking place.

Parkinson's Disease (PD) Group:

• People who are already taking part in a related study called the Mobilise-D Clinical Validation Study (CVS) PD Cohort.
• People aged 18 or older.
• People who have been clinically diagnosed with Parkinson's disease according to the Movement Disorder Society's current diagnostic criteria.
• People whose Parkinson's disease is rated at stage I, II, or III on the Hoehn & Yahr scale, which generally reflects mild to moderate disease severity (confirm with trial site).

Who may not be able to join:

Control Group:

• People who have had any of the following within the 3 months before signing up: a heart attack, a hospital stay for unstable chest pain (angina), a stroke, heart bypass surgery, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries, a heart device implant for rhythm problems, active treatment for cancer or another malignant disease, severe uncontrolled heart failure, an episode of acute psychosis or a major psychiatric condition, ongoing substance misuse, or a neurological or bone and joint problem that significantly affects the way they walk.
• People who have already been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a hip fracture near the hip joint, or multiple sclerosis (MS).
• People with a history of dementia, significant memory or thinking problems, or a movement disorder such as essential tremor.

PD Group:

• People whose medical history points to a condition called Dementia with Lewy Bodies, or an atypical form of parkinsonism such as multiple system atrophy or progressive supranuclear palsy, diagnosed using accepted medical criteria.
• People who have had repeated strokes or a step-by-step worsening of symptoms that has led to a diagnosis of 'vascular parkinsonism' (parkinsonism caused by problems with blood flow to the brain).
• People whose Parkinson's-like symptoms are caused by medication rather than a disease process.
