Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are Veterans and identify as a sexual minority (such as gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer, or any identity other than heterosexual)
- People whose depression or anxiety symptoms score above a certain level on standard questionnaires (the PHQ-9 or GAD-7)
- People who have experienced stressful events related to their sexuality that are contributing to their current distress, as confirmed during a phone screening
- People who are taking psychiatric medications must have been on a stable dose for at least 4 weeks before joining
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have a specific plan and/or intent to end their life, as assessed using a standard scale called the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale
- People who are currently experiencing unstable mania or psychosis, as assessed through a structured clinical interview
- People who currently have a severe substance use disorder, as assessed through a structured clinical interview
- People with significant cognitive difficulties, including those with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury, where the level of difficulty makes it hard to understand the screening questionnaires
