Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with a serious form of high blood pressure during pregnancy (called preeclampsia with severe features) that was identified during their delivery hospital stay.
- People whose pregnancy care (both before and after birth) was provided by the Long Beach Memorial Ob/Gyn resident team or the Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic.
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age.
- People who do not speak English or Spanish.
- People who were diagnosed with high blood pressure before 20 weeks of pregnancy (meaning the high blood pressure existed before the pregnancy-related condition developed).
- People with a known allergy to aspirin, a previous bad reaction to aspirin, or certain health conditions where aspirin is considered unsafe — such as nasal polyps, stomach or small intestine ulcers, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, or serious liver problems.
- People who have already been prescribed aspirin after giving birth for a different medical reason.
- People with a bleeding disorder.
- People who are breastfeeding a baby with a low platelet count (a blood condition that can affect clotting).
