• You are experiencing a higher-than-average level of psychological distress, as measured by a short questionnaire (a score above 15 on the K10 scale)

Who may not be able to join:

• You are currently held in a prison-based psychiatric centre
• You are considered a potential safety risk to the researchers or helpers involved in the study
• You have a serious physical health condition that needs immediate medical attention
• You are considered to be at immediate risk of suicide, or you are in immediate danger of being seriously harmed
• You have a severe mental health condition, such as a psychotic disorder or serious drug or alcohol dependence
• You have a severe condition affecting your thinking, memory, or understanding, such as severe intellectual disability or dementia
• You are already taking part in a specialist psychological therapy programme, such as EMDR or CBT
• You have been taking psychiatric medication for less than two months at a steady dose (if this applies to you)
