Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who received a kidney transplant at least 12 months ago and have been on a stable anti-rejection medication routine
- People whose kidneys are filtering at a sufficient level (a blood test result called eGFR of 40 or above) (confirm with trial site)
- People whose blood pressure is high, both when measured in a clinic and when measured over a full 24-hour period using a portable monitor
- People who have been taking at least two different types of blood pressure medication, including a water pill (diuretic), for at least three months without changes — or who have a documented reason why three types of blood pressure medication cannot be tolerated — and whose blood pressure medication routine is not expected to change in the next three months
- People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose natural (original) kidney arteries are not suitable for the procedure, including those who have previously had a stent or balloon procedure in the kidney arteries, a previous kidney nerve-blocking procedure, kidney tumours, kidney artery measurements outside a certain range, a specific artery wall condition called fibromuscular dysplasia, a bulge in the kidney artery (aneurysm), or a significant narrowing of the kidney artery (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a second kidney transplant and still have a remaining first transplant kidney, or who no longer have their original kidneys at all
- People who have only one natural (original) kidney
- People who have had a serious allergic reaction to contrast dye used in scans, or whose kidneys have been damaged by it in the past
- People who have a narrowing in the arteries in the groin or hip area that would prevent the procedure's catheter from being inserted
- People who have a treatable underlying cause of their high blood pressure that has not yet been addressed
- People who are pregnant
- People whose life expectancy is estimated at less than one year, based on the treating doctor's assessment
