Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have agreed to take part and signed a dated consent form
- You are 18 years old or older and have received a kidney transplant
- It has been more than 3 months since your kidney transplant
- Your kidneys are still working at a reasonable level, based on a blood test called eGFR (at least 20 ml/min/1.73m²) (confirm with trial site)
- Your blood pressure at the screening visit is not too high (below 160/100) and not too low (above 90/60)
- Your body weight falls within a certain range for your height — specifically a BMI between 18.5 and 40 (confirm with trial site)
- If you have Type 2 diabetes or developed diabetes after your transplant, your blood sugar control (HbA1c) must be below a certain level (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have Type 1 diabetes
- You have had more than one organ transplanted
- You have had a heart attack, mini-stroke, or stroke in the last 30 days
- Your kidney function has been declining rapidly, or you may need a kidney biopsy soon
- You are currently being treated for certain viral infections (BK virus, CMV, or EBV)
- You have recurring kidney infections or need a urinary catheter
- You have previously had a limb amputation or have severe pain in your limbs due to poor blood flow
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the trial
- You have a history of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
- You or a close family member have had a specific type of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid cancer) or a related condition called MEN2B
- You have had unstable eye problems related to diabetes in the past year
- You have taken certain diabetes medications (SGLT2 inhibitors or GLP-1 receptor agonists) in the last 30 days
- You frequently experience low blood sugar episodes
- You have a history of a serious diabetes-related complication called DKA that needed medical treatment or a hospital stay
- You are currently at risk of dehydration, low blood pressure, or an imbalance of salts in your body
- You have a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drug (semaglutide) or similar medicines
- The trial team does not feel you would be able to follow the study requirements
- You have any other health condition that the trial doctor believes could put you at risk or affect the study results (confirm with trial site)
