Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been clinically diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on the left side of the pancreas that doctors have determined can be removed with surgery.
- People whose tumor measures 4 cm (about 1.5 inches) or less in size on imaging scans.
- People whose tumor is located at least 1 cm away from a major blood vessel near the pancreas called the celiac trunk.
- People whose tumor has not grown into the layer of tissue behind the pancreas.
- People who are able to follow the study procedures as required by the research protocol.
- People who are willing to take part voluntarily and have signed a consent form agreeing to participate.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have already received treatment before surgery to shrink the tumor (such as chemotherapy or radiation given prior to an operation).
- People whose cancer has spread to the liver or to other parts of the body.
- People who have cancer appearing in more than one location, or whose cancer has come back after previous treatment.
- People who have a history of any other type of cancer.
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial at the same time.
