Who might be able to join this trial:
- People attending an orthopaedic trauma clinic for the first time after having surgery to repair a broken bone in an arm or leg, or any broken pelvis bone
- People who score 5 or higher on a standard depression screening questionnaire (called the PHQ-9) at their first appointment after surgery
- People aged 18 or older
- People who speak English or Spanish
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently taking medication for depression
- People who have an allergy or medical reason that prevents them from taking one of the medications used in the study
- People who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or a psychotic disorder
- People who are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide
