  • People who have been confirmed with, or are strongly suspected to have, endometrial, ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer, and whose treating doctor has determined they are expected to receive chemotherapy after a hysterectomy

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are not planning to receive their chemotherapy at Northwestern Medicine
  • People who work night shifts or rotating shift schedules
  • People with a BMI of 50 or above, or who have a diagnosed eating disorder
  • People who take medications to regulate blood sugar (such as insulin)
  • People who require ongoing treatment with anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medications at therapeutic doses
  • People who have been diagnosed with diabetes requiring medication, a recent heart attack, stroke, blood clot in the lungs, kidney failure, or any other condition that may make short-term fasting unsafe for them
  • People who take medications for conditions such as high blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances, or migraines, where fasting could affect how those medications work (confirm with trial site, as the treating doctor would monitor these cases)
  • People whose cancer specialist has not given clearance for their participation
  • People who are unwilling or unable to follow a specific diet plan or take part in ketone level measurements
  • People whose physical functioning is rated below the minimum required level (ECOG status greater than 1 — confirm with trial site)
  • People who have received systemic cancer treatment within the last 2 years
