Who might be able to join this trial:
- Veterans who were alive at age 75 at some point between 2005 and 2019, and who had a qualifying colonoscopy in the 10 years before turning 75

- Veterans aged 75 or older who were alive between 2003 and 2019, and who had a polyp removed (polypectomy) before turning 75, with a confirmed polyp diagnosis linked to that procedure (for one part of the study)
- Current patients at specific VA sites (VASDHS or VAGLA) who are aged 75 or older, have had a colonoscopy with polyp removal in the past 10 years, and have been referred for a follow-up surveillance colonoscopy (for the interview part of the study)
- Healthcare providers who are practicing clinicians at VASDHS or VAGLA, working at least 5/8ths of full time, including primary care providers, geriatricians, and gastroenterologists (for the provider interview part of the study)
- VA patients, caregivers, VA leadership, policymakers, health researchers, and people with experience in non-VA healthcare systems may be invited to participate in an expert panel discussion
Who may not be able to join:
- People who had colorectal cancer (bowel cancer) before the age of 75
- People who had a specific type of polyp — including sessile serrated adenoma, traditional serrated adenoma, or a large serrated polyp (a hyperplastic polyp larger than 10mm) — found at their qualifying colonoscopy
- People who have a history of inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis) before the age of 75
- People who did not have either a normal colonoscopy or a colonoscopy with polyp removal between the ages of 65 and 75
- People whose colonoscopy records are not available or cannot be reviewed
- People who have a known hereditary cancer syndrome (for one part of the study only — confirm with trial site)
