Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 60 years of age or older
- People who have the ability to give informed consent, as assessed by elder abuse staff
- People who show signs of depression based on a standard screening questionnaire (a score of 10 or higher on the PHQ-9, as assessed by elder abuse staff), which indicates at least mild to moderate depression
- People who have been confirmed by an elder abuse caseworker as needing elder abuse support services
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently experiencing active thoughts of suicide (based on a specific score on a clinical rating scale)
- People who are unable to communicate in English or Spanish
- People who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition other than depression on its own, or depression alongside generalised anxiety disorder (confirm with trial site)
- People who score below 11 on a short memory and thinking assessment called the Mini-MOCA
- People who have a serious or life-threatening physical health condition
- People who are in an elder abuse emergency situation or who have been referred away from the elder abuse agency
