Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 40 or older who have had a colon polyp or early colon cancer removed by endoscopy (using tools such as a snare, forceps, or tissue removal techniques), where the edges of the removed tissue showed cancer cells very close to or at the margin
- The removed cancer was located in the colon, not in the rectum (the lower part of the large bowel)
- A specialist medical team has reviewed the case and found no medical reason why the person could not have colon surgery if needed
- The removed cancer tissue, when examined under a microscope, did not show any high-risk features such as poor cell appearance, spread into blood or lymph vessels, or aggressive budding at the tumour edge
- Scans of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis show no sign that cancer has spread beyond the earliest stage (T1N0M0)
- The site where the polyp or cancer was removed can still be identified during a follow-up colonoscopy, either by a marking dye (tattoo) placed earlier or by visible scarring in the correct part of the colon
- There are no other growths or polyps larger than 10 mm in the large bowel at the time of joining the trial
- A full colonoscopy was completed with good bowel preparation quality and the end of the colon was clearly seen and documented
- No narrowings or severe pouching in the colon (confirm with trial site)
- No previous colorectal cancer diagnosis
- No other cancer that has not been considered cured
- No confirmed or suspected inherited cancer syndrome, such as Lynch syndrome or a condition involving 10 or more polyps
- No inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
- Written consent to participate has been given before joining
Who may not be able to join:
- People who do not meet all of the inclusion criteria listed above
