Who might be able to join this trial:

If you have a known disorder of purine and pyrimidine metabolism (DPPM):

• You must be at least one month old
• You have a medical history and test results that suggest you have a disorder affecting how your body processes certain chemical building blocks called purines and pyrimidines
• Signs that might point to this condition include birth defects, neurological or behavioral problems, immune system issues, blood disorders, kidney problems, gout, or repeated episodes of severe muscle breakdown
• You have a specialist doctor (such as a metabolic or genetics doctor) or a regular primary care doctor
• You (or your parent or legal guardian, if applicable) are willing and able to sign a consent form

If you are a family member (related by blood or marriage) of someone with a known DPPM:

• You must be at least one month old
• The research team believes that your participation and samples could help them better understand your relative's condition
• You have a regular care team outside of the NIH (the study hospital)
• You (or your parent or legal guardian, if applicable) are willing and able to sign a consent form

If you are a healthy volunteer with no connection to DPPM:

• You must be at least one month old
• You have no personal or family history of DPPM, and no symptoms of it
• The research team believes your samples could help advance their understanding of DPPM
• You have a regular care team outside of the NIH
• You (or your parent or legal guardian, if applicable) are willing and able to sign a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

• Healthy volunteers who have an intellectual disability caused by something other than DPPM, and who cannot give consent without a guardian, are not eligible (note: affected patients and family members with similar needs may still be able to participate with appropriate support)
• People who have another ongoing or long-term illness that the researchers believe could make it harder to interpret the study results (confirm with trial site)
• People who are pregnant may not join as a healthy volunteer or as an unaffected family member during their pregnancy
• Anyone who does not have a regular medical care team outside of the NIH cannot join this study
