Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a one-sided nerve problem in the lower part of the neck (at the C5-C6 and/or C6-C7 levels), confirmed by an MRI scan
- People who have pain and tenderness in active trigger points (tight, sensitive muscle knots) in the upper trapezius muscle, which runs along the top of the shoulder and neck
- People aged between 36 and 46 years old
- People whose symptoms have been present for more than 3 months
- People whose nerve signal test results (a specific electrical test called DSSEPs) show a difference of 50% or more between the two sides of the body (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have bony growths pressing on nerves at the back of the spine (posterior osteophytes)
- People who have narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal canal stenosis)
- People who have rheumatoid arthritis
- People who have problems with their vestibular system, which affects balance (vestibular insufficiency)
- People who have osteoporosis (weakened, brittle bones)
- People who show any signs or symptoms of spinal cord damage or pressure (myelopathy)
- People who have any problems with their ability to feel deep sensations (such as vibration or position sense)
- People who have other conditions in the upper neck or arm area that could cause similar symptoms, such as referred pain from certain spinal joints, rotator cuff tendonitis, cervical rib syndrome, or a trapped nerve in the arm
