Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) that comes and goes or is ongoing, and it causes symptoms
- Your doctor has calculated a stroke risk score (called CHA₂DS₂-VASc) of 2 or higher
- You have been diagnosed with a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but doesn't relax properly (sometimes called HFpEF), which includes all of the following:

- Your heart's pumping strength is 50% or more (confirmed by a heart scan)

Who may not be able to join:
- You have a non-heart-related illness that means you are not expected to live for more than 2 years
- Your atrial fibrillation is caused by a treatable condition, such as an overactive thyroid or low potassium levels
- You have previously had a procedure to treat atrial fibrillation using heat energy (ablation)
- The upper chamber of your heart (left atrium) is larger than 55 mm
- Your heart failure is caused by certain specific heart conditions, such as inherited thickened heart muscle, certain rare heart muscle diseases, or problems with the sac around the heart (confirm with trial site for full list)
- You have previously had a heart transplant, have a complex heart defect present from birth, or have rheumatic heart disease
- You have any medical reason why you cannot safely have an ablation procedure, take anti-arrhythmia medications, or take blood thinners
- You had a heart attack, heart surgery, a heart artery procedure, or a stroke within the 12 weeks before joining the trial
- You have severe liver or kidney problems
- Your body mass index (BMI) is above 50
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are already taking part in another clinical study
- Your doctor feels there is any other reason you may not be able to complete the study safely
