- You can read, speak, and understand English
- You are willing to be randomly assigned to different study conditions (note: if you have a religious affiliation, you would only be assigned to either the Christian or Islamic meditation group)

Who may not be able to join:
- You currently have any mental health conditions or take medication to manage your mental health
- You have long-term serious physical health problems, such as liver, brain, or kidney disease, or other life-threatening ongoing illnesses
- You have a history of heart problems, high blood pressure, Raynaud's syndrome, diabetes, or conditions affecting your muscles, joints, or bones
- You are currently taking medications used to reduce anxiety or stabilise mood
