Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have suspected pancreatic cancer that doctors believe can be removed with surgery

  • You have long-term liver problems, such as hepatitis, fatty liver disease, or cirrhosis
  • You have a heart condition caused by lung disease (called cor pulmonale)
  • You are currently in cardiogenic shock (when the heart suddenly cannot pump enough blood)
  • You have serious problems with blood circulation in your limbs
  • You have a condition where your blood is too acidic (metabolic acidosis)
  • You have a known allergy to propranolol or any of its ingredients
  • You have an untreated tumour called a pheochromocytoma
  • You have a history of a type of chest pain called Prinzmetal's angina
  • You have a history of certain heart rhythm problems (sick sinus syndrome or heart block)
  • You have previously had a stroke or any other major heart or blood vessel event
  • You have previously received chemotherapy or radiation treatment for your suspected pancreatic cancer
  • You have taken propranolol or any other beta-blocker medication in the past 3 months
  • You have taken anti-anxiety medications, calcium channel blockers, or certain heart/lung medications in the past 3 months
  • Your doctor considers you too frail or otherwise unsuitable for the trial
  • Your tissue sample (if already taken) shows the growth is not cancerous
  • You have a psychiatric illness, dementia, or are unable to read or speak sufficient Danish, which would prevent you from giving fully informed consent
