Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have experienced a traumatic shoulder dislocation (front of the shoulder) for the first time or on a recurring basis.
- People whose shoulder condition has been assessed as requiring a specific type of stabilisation procedure known as a Latarjet (either performed through small keyhole incisions or through open surgery).
- People aged between 18 and 67 years old.
- People who can read and speak French.
- People who are willing and able to provide written consent to participate.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose shoulder instability affects the back of the shoulder or multiple directions, or who score above 5 on a standard joint flexibility assessment called the Beighton score.
- People under 18 or over 67 years of age.
- People who also have a torn rotator cuff (a group of tendons and muscles around the shoulder joint).
- People who have previously had surgery on either shoulder.
- People who have a connective tissue disorder, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
- People who currently have an anxiety disorder or who are taking anxiety-related or antipsychotic medications (confirm with trial site).
- People who have a neurological condition or a serious systemic illness affecting the whole body.
- People who have an inflammatory condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, or who currently have an active cancer diagnosis.
- People who have previously been hospitalised because of shoulder pain.
- People who have a fracture of the upper part of the arm bone near the shoulder (upper tubercle fracture).
- People who have a loss of muscle movement or strength caused by a nerve problem (motor neurological deficit).
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who are under a legal protection order or guardianship arrangement.
