Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with early-stage or metastatic colon or rectal cancer
- People who were between 18 and 50 years old at the time of their cancer diagnosis
- People who do not have major surgery planned in the 12 weeks after joining the trial (having a port placed for chemotherapy is allowed)
- People who do not have radiation therapy planned in the 12 weeks after joining the trial
- People who are currently receiving chemotherapy or are planning to start chemotherapy
- People who currently do less than 90 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous exercise (for example, brisk walking, jogging, or similar activity)
- People whose treating cancer doctor has given medical clearance for them to participate in exercise testing and an exercise program
- People who do not have any uncontrolled health conditions that could be made worse by exercise
- People who are able to communicate and complete written forms in English
- People who are able to understand and are willing to sign an informed consent form before any study activities begin
- People who are willing to travel to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) for required data collection visits
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been doing more than 90 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise regularly over the past month
- People who have unstable health conditions that would prevent safe participation in moderate to vigorous exercise
- People who are currently following an active weight loss diet or taking weight loss medications
- People who have another active cancer diagnosis (skin cancer of the basal cell type is an exception)
- People who, in the opinion of the trial investigators, may not be able to safely follow the study's monitoring requirements
