Who might be able to join this trial:
- The young person is in their second or third year of secondary school, or will turn 14 or 15 years old during the current school year.
- The young person scores 14 or higher on a standard questionnaire used to measure depression symptoms (called the CDI-2).
Who may not be able to join:
- The young person scores at a level that indicates serious thoughts of self-harm or suicide on either the CDI-2 questionnaire (a score of 2 on question 8) or a separate suicide risk screening tool (a score of 23 or higher on the VOZZ-screen).
- The young person has been assessed as having clinical (diagnosed) depression based on a structured interview carried out at the start of the study.
- A parent or guardian has not given their permission for the young person to take part.
- The young person is already receiving treatment for depression symptoms.
- The young person does not have sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language to participate.
