Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with a high blood pressure condition during pregnancy, specifically gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia, or HELLP syndrome, based on standard medical guidelines

  • People whose pregnancy-related high blood pressure condition was diagnosed during a return hospital visit after already being discharged from their delivery stay
  • People who are being discharged from the hospital on the same day as screening
  • People who have a known allergy or medical reason they cannot take the medication nifedipine ER
  • People who are unable or unwilling to give formal consent to participate
  • People who are already taking a long-acting blood pressure medication as part of their standard care
  • People who have sickle cell disease or systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune condition), as these may affect study results
