Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People with hard-to-control treatment-resistant high blood pressure, meaning their blood pressure remains too high (average 24-hour reading of 125 mmHg or more systolic, or 80 mmHg or more diastolic) even while consistently taking 3 or more blood pressure medications, including a water pill (diuretic) at an appropriate dose — or who are unable to tolerate a water pill

  • People with a known allergy or medical reason to avoid minocycline or similar antibiotics (tetracyclines)

  • People whose kidneys are not functioning well enough, based on a specific blood test result below a certain threshold (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose high blood pressure is caused by another known medical condition
  • People who have been hospitalised for a severe high blood pressure emergency within the past year
  • People who have had two or more episodes in the past year of a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up
  • People who have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain, fainting, or a stroke in the past 6 months
  • People with evidence of alcoholism or drug misuse
  • People with serious ongoing conditions such as cancer or HIV/AIDS
  • People who are currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study
