Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) that causes noticeable symptoms affecting your daily life
- Your atrial fibrillation comes and goes, or has been ongoing, and medications to control your heart rate have not been enough
- You want to have a procedure called catheter ablation to treat your atrial fibrillation
- You have a body mass index (BMI, a measure of body weight relative to height) of 30 or above, OR you have at least two of the following: BMI over 27, high blood pressure or a history of it, diabetes, heart failure, age 65 or older, previous stroke or mini-stroke (TIA), currently smoking, or drinking alcohol above recommended weekly limits
- You either chose not to join, or were not asked to join, the main RASTA-AF study
- You received catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation between November 1, 2019 and December 31, 2025
Who may not be able to join:
- Your atrial fibrillation has been permanent (lasting more than 3 years)
- You have previously had a catheter ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation
- You have very severe heart failure (classified as New York Heart Association Class IV) (confirm with trial site)
- You have taken part in a cardiac rehabilitation program in the past year
- You are already doing more than 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous exercise
- You are unable to exercise
- You are unable to give your own informed consent to participate
- You have a serious non-heart-related medical condition that makes it unlikely you will survive the next year
- You are under 18 years of age
