Who may be able to join

  • People who are willing to take part voluntarily and sign a consent form agreeing to join the study.
  • People diagnosed with a type of lung cancer called non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that can be removed by surgery, at a specific stage (stage II to IIIB), with certain limitations on how far it has spread.
  • People whose lung cancer has a specific gene change (mutation) known as EGFR 19del or L858R.
  • People aged between 18 and 75 years old, of any gender.
  • People with a good general level of physical fitness and ability to carry out daily activities, as measured by a standard medical scoring tool called the ECOG scale (score of 0 or 1).
  • People who have at least one tumour that can be measured using standard imaging guidelines (RECIST v1.1).
  • People with suspected cancer spread to lymph nodes in the chest may need an additional tissue sample taken (using a procedure such as bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, or mediastinoscopy) to confirm the diagnosis before joining (confirm with trial site).
  • People whose lung function — as measured by breathing tests — is considered sufficient to safely undergo lung surgery.
  • People whose blood counts and organ function results meet specific minimum levels, including blood cell counts, liver function, kidney function, thyroid hormone levels, and blood clotting measures (confirm with trial site for exact values).
  • Female participants of childbearing age must use contraception during the trial; male participants whose partners are of childbearing age must also use effective contraception during the trial.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have had another type of cancer in the past 3 years, except for certain fully treated skin cancers or early-stage cervical cancer.
  • People with active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection.
  • People who currently have or have previously had an autoimmune disease (a condition where the immune system attacks the body).
  • People who are currently taking immune-suppressing medications or who need to take steroid medications regularly.
  • People with high blood pressure that is not well controlled by medication, or people with significant heart problems or symptoms.
  • People with abnormal blood clotting results above certain levels (confirm with trial site for exact values).
  • People who have had a blood clot in an artery or vein within the 6 months before joining the study.
  • People who have an active infection at the time of joining.
  • People with a condition that affects how the immune system works, including HIV infection.
  • People who, in the view of the research team, have other factors that could affect the study results or their safety in the trial.
