Who might be able to join this trial:

For children with Type 1 Diabetes:

• Girls who are 10–11 years old, or boys who are 11–12 years old
• Has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes for at least 6 months
• The child and their parent or guardian are able and willing to give their agreement to take part

For typically developing children (comparison group, no diabetes):

• Girls who are 10–11 years old, or boys who are 11–12 years old
• The child and their parent or guardian are able and willing to give their agreement to take part

Who may not be able to join:

For children with Type 1 Diabetes:

• Children who are taking medications or have other health conditions known to affect bone health or bone strength, such as kidney disease, celiac disease, hormone-related conditions, or an overactive thyroid
• Children who have already gone through their main adolescent growth spurt before the study begins

For typically developing children (comparison group):

• Children who have a health condition or are taking medications that affect bone health or normal physical growth
• Children who have had bone fractures caused by minor injuries, or fractures in the spine
• Children who have already gone through their main adolescent growth spurt before the study begins
