Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with primary Parkinson's disease, based on the 2015 MDS diagnostic criteria for Parkinson's disease
- People diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, based on the IWG-2 clinical diagnostic criteria
- People diagnosed with another neurodegenerative disease (other than Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease) who meet the diagnostic criteria for that specific condition
- Healthy older adults who voluntarily agree to participate, sign an informed consent form, and are matched in age and gender to the patient groups
- Healthy younger adults (under 60 years old) who voluntarily agree to participate, sign an informed consent form, and are matched in gender to the patient groups
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have other brain or nervous system conditions, such as stroke-related disease, brain injury, brain infections or inflammation, brain tumours, or a history of brain surgery
- People with significant memory or thinking difficulties, as measured by a standard cognitive test (a score below 24 on the MMSE) — this applies to the Parkinson's disease group and healthy control groups
- People with severe mental illness that would make participation difficult
- Healthy control candidates who have a history of chronic conditions relevant to the study, such as brain or nervous system diseases, brain injury, or brain surgery
- Healthy control candidates who are unlikely to follow the study requirements reliably (confirm with trial site)
