Who may be able to join
- Adults aged 18 or older.
- People who are generally active and able to care for themselves, with little or no limitation on daily activities (as measured by a standard medical scoring system called ECOG, with a score of 0 or 1).
- People who have been confirmed by laboratory testing (tissue or cell sample) to have one of the following advanced or returning cancers:
- Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and is at an advanced stage (stage III or IV);
- Breast cancer that has come back or spread to other parts of the body;
- Newly diagnosed ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer, or fallopian tube cancer at a certain stage (FIGO stage IC–IV) where no further surgery is planned before the disease gets worse, or ovarian cancer that has come back and still responds to platinum-based chemotherapy;
- Endometrial (uterine) cancer at an advanced stage (FIGO stage III–IV) or that has come back, including specific subtypes (endometrioid, serous, or clear cell);
- Advanced or returning cervical cancer (FIGO stage IVB, or persistent/recurrent) that cannot be treated with surgery or radiation, and where no more than one prior platinum-based chemotherapy has been received;
- Head and neck squamous cell cancer that has come back or spread, involving specific areas (larynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, oral cavity, certain types of nasopharyngeal cancer, or salivary gland cancer), and that is no longer suitable for surgery or radiation.
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured using standard imaging criteria (called RECIST version 1.1).
- People who have received at most one prior chemotherapy treatment for their cancer, and have not previously received a combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy.
- People whose blood, liver, kidney, and heart are functioning well enough to meet specific laboratory standards, including healthy blood cell counts (without recent blood transfusions or certain blood-boosting treatments), liver and kidney enzyme levels within acceptable ranges, and a heart pumping function (ejection fraction) of at least 55% (confirm specific values with trial site).
- People who are expected to live for at least 3 more months.
- Women who could become pregnant must agree to use reliable contraception throughout the trial and must have a negative pregnancy test (blood or urine) within 7 days before starting treatment.
- People who are willing to participate, have signed a consent form, and are able to attend follow-up appointments and cooperate with the study requirements.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with a history of certain blood cancers (myeloid leukaemia or myelodysplastic syndrome) or a blood disorder called sickle cell disease.
- People who have cancer that has spread to the brain or the lining around the brain or spinal cord, and where those symptoms currently require immediate radiation treatment or steroid medication.
- People who have had surgery or radiation therapy within the 4 weeks before starting the trial treatment.
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial or received an experimental drug within approximately 30 days (or longer, depending on the drug) before starting the trial treatment.
- People with ovarian cancer that has stopped responding to platinum-based chemotherapy, or where the cancer came back within 6 months of receiving platinum-based chemotherapy.
- People who would need to receive radiation therapy at the same time as the trial treatment.
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the medications used in this trial.
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- People who have any other health condition that the trial doctor believes would make it unsafe or inappropriate for them to participate (confirm with trial site).

Trial details
This date has passed while the registry still lists the trial as open to participants. Sponsors often update a trial's status without revising its projected end date, so it may well still be recruiting — but the record is out of date in at least one respect. Check with the study contact before relying on either.
